Skip Morris
Skip Morris is among the most prolific fly-fishing and fly-tying authors, speakers, and clinicians alive—his name is known to anglers around the world. He has written 19 books and over 350 published articles on fly fishing and tying. His books and videos range from instruction for tying nymphs, to tying bass flies, to tying and fishing flies for sea-run cutthroat trout. Number 20 will be Imposters: The Flies We Fish and the Fish They Catch, coming out July 2026, his first book of essays.
He has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Fly Tyer magazine (in 2014), and the Fly-Tying Hall of Fame Award from the Washington State Council of Fly Fishers International (in 2023). Skip lives with his wife, artist/photographer Carol Ann Morris, and a tortoise shell cat named Olive Penderghast, on Washington State’s damp and fish-heavy Olympic Peninsula.
