Rich Osthoff's fly-fishing journeys have taken him across the majestic landscapes of the Rockies. As a dedicated guide, he leads trout enthusiasts along the bountiful spring creeks of western Wisconsin, his cherished home waters. Beyond exploring the renowned rivers, tailwaters, and spring creeks of the West, Rich has embarked on over 125 backpacking expeditions in pursuit of wild trout, including the pursuit of trophy golden trout. His passion extends to canoeing and fly-fishing for smallmouth bass across the lakes of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Ontario.
Rich's expertise shines through his three comprehensive fly-fishing books: "Fly-Fishing the Rocky Mountain Backcountry," "No Hatch to Match," and "Active Nymphing," all of which were published by Stackpole Books. His prolific writing career spans numerous fishing and fly-tying articles featured in leading magazines such as Fly-fishing & Tying Journal, American Angler, Fly Tyer, and Outdoor Life. Rich is a revered St. Croix Rod Factory Team member, embodying his dedication to the craft. His passions extend to bird and deer hunting, subjects he also shares his insights on.
