FLY DESIGNER
Mack Wilson
Raised in a quaint town in South Central Oklahoma, Mack's initial exposure to fly fishing occurred at the age of 14 while watching an outdoor sports TV show set on a distant trout stream. This spurred him to acquire a fly rod and experiment with crafting poppers using wood and pigeon feathers. His casting and tying skills gradually improved, leading to his first successful catches. This marked the beginning of his deep fascination with fly fishing.
Equipped with a Honda motorcycle, Mack explored and fished various ponds, lakes, and streams across Murray County. After completing his college education, he relocated to Arkansas, where he was introduced to the art of trout fishing on iconic rivers like the White, Norfork, and Little Red. While the Tidewater trout experience enhanced his angling knowledge, he maintains a special fondness for wading local streams in pursuit of bass.
Mack's fly patterns are meticulously designed to mimic the diverse food sources found in the Ozark region. These patterns have proven effective across various fishing destinations, from the Gulf Coast to Montana and beyond. Besides tying flies for local shops, he enjoys assisting newcomers in their journey into fly fishing. His enthusiasm for crafting the fly that outsmarts the fish remains undiminished.
