He embarked on his angling journey at the tender age of two and has remained steadfastly immersed in the world of fishing ever since. Jack's fishing ventures have led him to explore diverse landscapes, from Alaska and Canada to Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Washington, Oregon, and South America. During the 90s, he ventured into the uncharted waters of Chile, guiding and exploring watersheds that had remained relatively untouched.

The inception of The Evening Hatch began as a modest dream in 1988. Since then, the company's growth has been remarkable, from a small red pickup truck and an Achilles raft to a year-round operation orchestrating over 900 guided river days annually. The services offered by The Evening Hatch span from day trips to comprehensive, all-inclusive programs. The company boasts its splendid post-and-beam lodges at two distinct locations. The company's heart and soul are intertwined with waters like the Yakima, Klickitat, Methow, Upper Columbia, and Olympic Peninsula.

Jack's preferred fishing style involves employing a two-hander for greased-line steelhead angling. He initiated the accredited fly fishing class at Central Washington University in 1994, which continues to thrive and captivate students.
