FLY DESIGNER
Harrison Steeves
Harrison hails from a lineage steeped in fly fishing and tying, inheriting a passion from his father's dedicated hours at the tying bench. He absorbed the intricate details of fly tying through keen observation, swiftly transitioning from spectator to success as he began catching fish on his creations.
Coming of age in Alabama, Harrison's exploratory spirit led him to embrace various fly types – wet flies, nymphs, dries, and streamers. In the warm waters of his home state, he uncovered the thrill of targeting bluegills, "red eye" bass, and an array of other species using his fly rod. However, a pivotal fishing escapade to Tennessee and North Carolina ignited his enthusiasm for trout, capturing his heart with their elusive allure. These experiences and subsequent journeys fueled his growth as a tyer, fostering innovation and imagination while learning to listen to the stories materials wished to convey.
Although he has achieved expertise as a tyer, angler, and author, Harrison's true satisfaction arises from witnessing others delight in fishing with his birthed patterns. Beyond his angling pursuits, he served as a Professor of Biology professionally. He has extended his expertise as a professional guide and fly fishing instructor for nearly eighteen years.
