FLY DESIGNER
Doug Janiec
Doug Janiec's lifelong affinity for fishing took root even before entering kindergarten. What began as a self-taught venture into fly fishing naturally evolved into the world of fly tying. In 2006, Doug's journey led him to a fortuitous partnership with master rod builder Ken Prager, establishing White Clay Outfitters. Nestled near the picturesque National Wild & Scenic White Clay Creek and between the Delaware and Chesapeake Bays, this venture gave Doug a unique opportunity to explore diverse fishing environments.
Doug's extensive geographic reach has afforded him experience in cold water, warm water, and saltwater fishing. This breadth of knowledge has enriched his angling expertise, allowing him to adapt his skills to various fishing conditions. Furthermore, his professional journey as a natural resource specialist over the last two decades has seen him delving into the intricate world of investigating, restoring, and cultivating stream systems, wetlands, and other vital natural habitats. This unique background equips him with a distinctive perspective spanning fishing and environmental conservation.
Beyond his passion for fishing, Doug's commitment to his craft extends to fly tying. His constant pursuit of new and innovative tying materials sets him on an ongoing quest for creative expression. This commitment to exploration is evident as he shares his insights and techniques across the region, imparting his knowledge to fellow enthusiasts.
In Doug's world, fishing, tying, and environmental stewardship converge, harmonizing his love for the sport with his dedication to preserving the precious resources that sustain it.
