FLY DESIGNER
Craig Riendeau
For more than four decades, Craig Riendeau has embraced the realms of fly tying and fishing. Raised amidst the Midwestern landscapes, he was nurtured on the joys of warmwater fly fishing. Yet, his journey took a turn upon his relocation to the North Georgia Mountains, where he cultivated a profound appreciation for diverse fish species in various aquatic habitats—warm, cold, or salt waters.
While predominantly self-taught in fly tying, this autodidactic approach has endowed Craig with an unparalleled perspective, fostering an inventive and innovative approach to his craft. His skills further flourished within the nurturing environment of DRiFT (DuPage Rivers Fly Tyers) in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, refining his techniques and expanding his horizons.
An influential figure in the angling community, Craig's passion has led him to many roles. He assumed the mantle of the first Director of the BassBuggers Division of the Illinois Smallmouth Alliance, a position he continues to hold with dedication. Presently, he serves as the vice president of the Fall Line Fly Anglers in Macon, Georgia, while also pursuing his passion as a part-time striper guide on Lake Lanier.
Craig's creative ingenuity extends to pattern design, with several of his distinctive fly creations gracing the pages of fly-tying magazines and guidebooks penned by fellow angling enthusiasts. His presence is also a fixture at various fly-tying shows in Georgia and across the expanse of the Midwest.
